Hi,

I have seen on some AIX servers, the users can type in the first a few characters of a file name and then press tab key to try auto complete the rest of the file name if a match is found. Does anyone aware of this function and how to set it up?

Thanks

Mike

Thanks. I just checked, we are using ksh.

For ksh, entering

set -o emacs

will allow file completion by hitting <esc><esc> . I think there is some way to bind the tab key to this function but I don't know what it is. This also allows you to edit your history to repeat commands .e.g. up arrow to select a command and enter to execute a selected command.

'set -o viraw' also allows the <esc> <esc> auto-complete in the korn shell
