We are looking for a product that will perform a change management function for system admins; that is, we want the product to perform the changes as requested of it by the sys admins and electronically authorized by management. We are wondering what others are using or is this function by policy and not product in most sites? Thanks to all who respond.

there's also something called rdist which might go some way to meeting your needs

Hey Mike
What is thid rdist all about ...?? Is it the command of AIX ...??? . Can u elaborate on waht u have used this for ...??

Thanks
Naveen

You are probably looking for CVS instead of rdist is useful for distributing common files from a central repository, there isn't any "version control" to speak of.

Look at for more info, and the bonus is that it's open-source.

Good luck

Lets try again, there was a typo in the first line:

You are probably looking for CVS instead of rdist. Rdist is useful for distributing common files from a central repository, there isn't any "version control" to speak of. I use that to distribute hosts, aliases, etc. from one central server. If the file at the remote server is altered rdist will pick it up the next time you run it and change it back to what you have in your central repository.

Look at for more info, and the bonus is that it's open-source.
