AIX 5L / VAC 6.0 / Oracle 10G Oddness

My dba received this error while upgrading an oracle instance to 10g. My searches so far have found nothing. Any idea's what this is?

5876762.992 SGSLUFREAD: HARD ERROR ON READ, OS ERROR

I'm at ML 5.3.0.2.

There are a few prereqs in order to run ORA 10G

a.o. xlC.rte needs to be at level 7.0.0.0 and xlc.aix50.rte at 7.0.0.3

There are probably some more requirements (AIX fixes and stuff). I put AIX at 5300-04 with above xlC levels and bos.adt.libm installed for ORA10G
