Hi,

We just got some new Power 5 servers and installed AIX 5.3. Is their a C compiler included with Aix 5.3 (cc or gcc)? I couldn't find it. We need a 64 bit C compiler to re-compile a small application.

Any help is appreciated.

Is gcc not on the Linux Application CD?
I download the later version from either IBM's freeware site or bullfreeware

I saw the version on Bull's site but it was for AIX 5.2 and had no download. I beleive we installed one that was listed for AIX 5.1. Should this work or does it specifically need to be target for AIX 5.3? Also, would the AIX 5.1 gcc support the generation 64-bit executables?

Sorry for so many questions, we are new to this platform.

There is gcc avaliable for AIX, and its free. If you have the money, go for the Visual Age C/C++ compiler, its MUCH better!

hope this helps.

Thanks guys. This is exactly the info I needed.
