AIX 5.2 performance issues

Can someone help make suggestions for what to look at here? Check out the run queue (r?) for <vmstat 1>:

what does the output look like from ps aux? Something is running that is processor intensive.

Add 95 processors?

ps auwx should show you the processes in state running 'R'

The output from your vmstat shows that your system is CPU bound , the first column r , indicate threads ready to be run and are competeing for the CPU ), 94 is quite a lot .

How many CPU's do you have installed?

One other thing to look at is if you have any scripts that are clocking up alot of time , causing heavy load on your CPU .

The vmstat looks unreakistic - this amount of running queues is abnormal.

Just one topas screen taken at the same time could hint a lot.
Also - please post the "errpt|head -30" output taken immediately after the phenomena starts.

My feeling is that some peace of SW got stuck on the kernel/user level and reboot would resolve it - assuming this is not something that you experience daily .
