HiAll,

I have a couple new P610's that boot off of an EMC Symmetrix. One has two Fibre cards and is running powerpath. The second has the single card. The system with the sigle card upgraded and booted with out a hitch. The dual carded system had to have the second card unplugged in order to begin the upgrade. From that point on it was just like the single card system.

The dual card system finished normal, all file sets are as they should be. The new LED messages for 5.2 show at boot... ie AIX is starting, Mounting /, Mounting /var, Mounting /usr, syncing rootvg etc. Then it hangs. SMS tells me the last LED was 0539 on line one and 20-58-01 on line two. I think it is the powerpath software. Anyone else having this kind of fun!?!

This is due to powerpath.

If you are using 6228 hba's then you will need firmware 3.82a1 at a minimum.

Minimum Powerpath version 3.0.3 is required for AIX 5.2.

When booting off fibre under AIX 5.2 it requires APAR IY41028 which can be obtained from IBM at
AIX 5.2 32/64 bit kernel supported. Requires Minimum EMC ODM fileset support 5.0.0.0.
