I am running AIX 4.3 and I have exported a directory. When I try to do an NFS mount with OS/2 Warp 4 I get back an error message :
Access Deined
The OS/2 looks like it is working OK, I have mounted a directory on a SUN box and it works ok. I ran snoop and saw that OS/2 was using UDP instead of TCP. I have both running on my AIX box when I do the rpcinfo -p [server_name} command I get back several lines with proto of udp.

I have checked the permissions on the directory and I have changed it to 777 so everyone can get to them. Does anyone have any idea.

could be name resolution, that one bites me in the pants all the time. telnet from the OS/2 box to the AIX box and do a who, see where it thinks you are coming from and verify that name is in the export list.

I exported it for all ? Do I still have to have an export list.
Where is the export list ?

hi
NFS on AIX requires that client name has to be inserted in /etc/hosts (or equivalent name resolution mechanism).
I have noted that in other Unix (HP sure), this is not
mandatory, but performances goes down.

Has your AIX, OS2 pc name and address in /etc/hosts ?

bye

I have in my /etc/exports an entry :

/data -

Doesn't that allow everyone ?

All of my other OS's connect correctly.

I have put the name in the /etc/hosts but still I get the error.

i think you are looking for a + rather than a -. if you have no concern for security, you can put a line in like:

+ +

but that is not usually something people should do.
