I'm trying to verify the contents of our tape backup using the command: restore -Tvqf /dev/rmt0. The command runs and shows the information on the tape header as to date;cluster size;backed up by name, etc. It then starts displaying the files on the tape.
However, it periodically pauses and displays the message:
restore:0511-133 There is a data read error.:there is an input or outout error. Ignoring data and continuing.
It does then continue to display more files. It seems to display the error right after the file indicated on the tape is a large (400MB) Progress database file. Don't know if there's a correlation. It does show all the databases to be backed up are on the tape. And, I have successfully done a test restore of a small file.
What does the error mean? If I had to do a major restore from the tape, do those errors indicate I would likely have problems?
