There are currently nine maintenance levels for AIX 4.3.3: 4330-1 thru 4330-09. My question is whether they are incremental or cumulative. Can I just apply the fix for level 9 and assume that levels 1 thru 8 are included? Or do I need to install each maintenance level 1 thru 9 in order to avoid problems?

Thanks,
Gary Weik

OK, then why when I issue the command "instfix -i | grep AIX_ML" do I not see "All filesets for 4330-0[1-8]_AIX_ML were found."? Should I just ignore this fact? If it says all filesets for 4330-09 were found then am I current?

Thanks a lot,
Gary

I am not sure I totally agree...All filesets for maintenance level 9 are installed yes....but I would find out what is missing from the filesets 1-8 that are at a lower level and then make my decision. If it is an old fileset not used, great....or obsolete, great...but there were some problems between maintenance level 5-6 and 8-9 that did not pick up all that you needed due to pre and coreqs....So the safest is to do the command below for each of the levels, and see what filesets are not updated...and decide if you want to just get those filesets and install them or leave it at where you are....

# instfix -ivk 4330-06_AIX_ML|grep not | grep ':'
You can apply these filesets from an update cd or downloaded individually off
the web.

Of course you run instfix -ik | grep ML after you have fixed the filesets

I concur with AIXQueen on this. Download and install all missing fixes for prior ML levels.
