I have set up two ibooks running airport cards and a pc running a netgear usb wireless adapter.

The pc is two rooms across and one floor down in an old victorian house and only gets intermittent signal.

Is there any way to improve signal or reception from base station

or

is it possible to get a wireless adapter which connects via ethernet with a long cable that can be connected to the pc (i understand that max length of a usb cable is 5 metres, which may just be long enough).

If the usb option is ok, can you get a usb male to female connector, so that cable can be extended?
