Hi
I have two Aironet 1200 AP's. I only want to prove to myself that they support WEP.
I can set up the AP. I can browse to the web setup page. I can get to the internet through the AP. In short, it works.
The trouble starts when you attempt to configure security. If I configure the AP for 40 or 128 bit WEP, it takes the config.
If I configure XP for 40 or 128 bit WEP it can no longer talk to the AP. If I go back in to check my config of XP, WEP has defaulted back to disabled. The key is still there but greyed out.
Regardless of this, I can no longer connect through or to the AP. This happens with both AP's so is not a hardware fault.
I suspect it could be XP, but in terms of unreliability I find Microsoft no worse than Cisco, so don't want to blem the wrong cause.
My Windows updates are current, and I have tried a Cisco Aironet card and a Netgear tri-band card, both yield the same result.
Does anybody know if Cisco/XP do not support WEP? I know the dialogue boxes are there for both but i've learnt that means nothing.
Am I doing something wrong with XP? All I do is choose the options for WEP in advanced properties.
Any help welcome prior to having an Aironet bonfire.
