I have a mid-tower case and currently have a total of 5 fans operating in it. I have a rear-exhaust fan(80mm; below the psu and next to cpu), one window fan(80mm; exhaust), 2 low front fans(80mm's; hard drive coolers) and a pci slot fan at the bottom of case. My average sys temp is 34C and my cpu is 36C. I was expecting my sys temp to be lower than it is with all the fans i have in it. Is there anyway i can rearrange the fans for better cooling?

Howdy,

I have 4 fans (not including PSU and CPU) in my midtower case. My temps were inproved by reversing my window fan. Because I have 2 80mm exhaust fans, and 1 120mm fan in the psu, my case had negative pressure, and I could not get adequate airflow.

Reversing that fan gave me an 8 degree CPU temp difference.

You can try reversing the window fan if you like, to see how it affects your airflow and thus temps, but if I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. Those are great temps already. They say "if it isn't broke, don't fix it."

Good luck,

Yeah, I'm thinking along the lines with Lemon13 here, processors can easily handle 60C for extended times with no problems at all. I'm just commenting that with 36C for a cpu temperature there is no concern whatsoever of heat damage.

Not just low but amasingly low figures!!
Last time I saw a CPU under 40C was in the dead of winter in our cold workshop checking a 700 Duron.
Most of our new builds (usually XP's 2.2 to 3.2) idle from 45 to 50C
Just to give you a general feel for what is the norm.
These are mostly with Arctic Cooler, copper silent 2's fitted and generally one extra case fan but even with more fans I wouldn't expect to see much less 2/4 degrees C perhaps.
When you consider most CPU's don't become unstable untill they reach the mid 60's C then you are well safe.
