aim exe. HELP

i have aim messenger..and when i try to log on i receive a message stating..aim exe. has generated errors and will be shut down by windows...anyone have any idea how to fix this..family members use this program to keep in contact

Unless there are other virus indications, this is probably not a virus. Probable cause is a corrupted AIM file.

Your first step should be to uninstall AIM completely (use the windows control panel) then reinstall AIM.

First things first. Have you run a thorough virus scan (with updated virus definition)? There are a few viruses out there that can cause this sort of problem. Second, uninstall then reinstall the AIM. You may simply have file corruption. Post back if no joy...
