One of my machines took a dive today, and I can't get it back up. System description:
[ul]
[li]Pentium II 400mhz[/li]
[li]Supermicro P6SBS mainboard[/li]
[li]896mb RAM[/li]
[li]On-board Adaptec AIC-7895 SCSI controller[/li]
[/ul]
The machine was working fine until I moved it today, when it was shut down for about 45 minutes. It then complained that the second HDD (id 1) could not init... it would click a few times when any commands were sent to it.
So I get another drive to replace it. I boot to my Gentoo LiveCD, make partitions on the new drive (the dead one had swap and /home on it), then reboot.
Now during bootup, I see all my devices listed, but then I get a "SCSI Bios not installed!" message:
[tt]Channel A:
Ch A, SCSI ID: 4 RICOH MP6200S
SCSI ID: 5 PIONEER CD-ROM DR-U16S
Ch B, SCSI ID: 0 IBM DDYS-T09170N
SCSI ID: 1 FUJITSU MAX3073NP
SCSI BIOS not installed![/tt]
The Fujitsu drive is replacing the IBM DDRS-34560 that stopped responding to init commands, and was also on channel B, ID 1.
When I go into the disk utilities and try to verify disk media, I get the following:
[tt]Target SCVSI ID: 0
SCSI CDB Set: 03 00 00 00 0E 00 70 00 OB 00
Host Adapter Status: 1Bh
Target Status: 02h - Check Condition
Sense Key: 0Bh
Sense Code: 48h
Sense Code Qualifier: 00h[/tt]
And:
[tt]Target SCVSI ID: 1
SCSI CDB Set: 03 00 00 00 0E 00 70 00 OB 00
Host Adapter Status: 48h
Target Status: 02h - Check Condition
Sense Key: 0Bh
Sense Code: 48h
Sense Code Qualifier: 00h[/tt]
The BIOS version on the card is 1.32.
