my mother board does not have a AGp slot, can i place an AGP device in a pci slot? or what can i get to use an agp card?

You CANNOT insert an AGP card into a PCI slot as the size of boards connections are different (in most cases) and the voltage requirements are different (in all cases).

If you succeeded in inserting an AGP into a PCI slot, it would probably not work (not enough voltage).

To fix, get a motherboard with an AGP slot, or get a different device of the same type that is PCI instead of AGP.

Don't even attempt to insert an AGP card into a PCI slot. This could easily short the motherboard. Even if it didn't, it would be like cramming a diesel engine into a lawnmower: useless

Many owners of older systems face this dilema!
There are only two options:
Buy a PCI graphics card
Or upgrade to a board with AGP.
My advice is if you stick with your existing board don't spend too much on the PCI card.
In my experience there is a performance wall that you hit because of other bottle necks on older boards ie: chipset/ram and bus speed. The result is a new 32mb PCI G/force MX not performing any better than an old 16mb TNT Vanta, where if it were in a newer machine you would expect 3 times the frame rates with the newer G/force.
