HI Guys,

why can't I have aggregate functions like sum(column1) in the page footer?? I have to have it in the detail???

So now I've got a rolling sum in the detail section and I'm linking it with a textbox in the page footer and then making the rolling sum in the detail section invisible.

Isn't there an easier way of getting the sum in the page footer?
Thanks for your help.

You are probably doing it the best way. Because Access leaves the usual summing and counting of controls for the Report Footer or Group Footer sections.

well any footer would be fine for me!!

I only seem to be able to use the aggregate functions like 'sum' in the detail section!!!???

Say you have a field called [MyField] in the Detail section.

In the report Footer, put an unbound control with its control source as =Sum([MyField]). That will get the sum of the field in the Detail section.

true!..lol.. I thought it only worked in detail section.thankx
