recently my AGFA AccuSet 1000 has started to ghost images. it happens from both quark and pagemaker, on both os9 and osx.at first i thought it was one of the programs, but it's happened with both and even halfway through imaging a job. so I can only guess that it's got to be the RIP software, the computer that's on, or the imagesetter itself. the problem is intermittent and i have not found anything in common in all the instances that it's happened. it's only happened 3 times. This last time, i had sent 5 jobs to film. 4 came out ok and then 1 separation of the 5th job came out, and the rest was kind of ghosted. It looks like unexposed film, but very, very faintly, you can see the images.

I would appreciate any help or insight anyone can give me as I don't know much about the imagesetter or the RIP software and that being said, i'm also the person at work that knows the most about it. So there's no one to offfer any help here.

Thanks in advance!!

This is an imagesetter hardware problem.
AccuSet 1000's are good machines, but over time certain parts will need to be replaced.
Locatd a good local service tech and have a PM (preventitive maintence) done on the machine.
Common problem areas are: Spin Motor, Power Supply, and dirty optics. The laser itself rarely goes bad.

Hi,
I have a very similar problem and i've been searching/reading for what seems like forever but my problem is not hardware related and is permanently ghosting from the G5 and perfect from the G4.
I have a G4 OS 9 & a G5 OS X tiger and an AGFA accuset 1000.
I don't seem to have any problems with the PPD files working (and have tried diffferent PPDs like the OSX ones etc etc) on the G5 but when I output from the G5 the image comes out very light solid (not fine or course screened) as if the exposure on the imagesetter is incorrect and very low. BUT... the G4 will print perfect to it everytime.
I'm printing from Quark 6 and illustrator with the same results.
Has anyone got any ideas/suggestions?
I don't think there's anything wrong with the PPD files that Quark is using and it will still do the same thing if I choose generic imagesetter PPD.
Thank you for your time.
Phil
