Can anyone tell me what is involved with performing an agent upgrade with Symposium Express CC 3? I need to add about 20 more agent licenses. Does the server software have to be reinstalled, or is it simply an applet that will reconfigure the license parameters by entering a license key? Also, will this agent upgrade require the server to be taken offline or rebooted?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I do not know SCCS Express 3, we use SCCS 4.02. I know you will have to reboot. I beleive there is a GUI that will run you through increasing the Capacities that are under Historical data. As for reinstalling, I would not think so. You should have an option under the programs to upgrade. You will have to stop all services in Symposium and then run the upgrade and reboot. Just a freindly reminder to make sure you take a backup of your database.

BTW: Are you getting a message from the server that you need to increase your agent capacity. I know alot of people that do not know understand that your seat license is for "concurrent agents". As in logged into Symposium, not just built into Symposium. The way we found out how many agents we have logged into our servers concurrently is we assign every agent a skillset that has nothing routed to it called AgentCount. Then we run stats every hour on the skillset to find out what our concurrent count is.

My licensing currently allows me 50 agents, and I max out daily by one or two agents. These agents get "exceeded maximum allowable agents" or something close to that. If I go into "historical stats" and look at the parameters tab, I show 50 as the purchased value of active agents, and it does not let me change it. I'm sure I will have to increase my historical database values (like active phonesets) once I get an upgrade. I just don't want to get in too deep if the upgrade process is very involved. I'm fairly new to Symposium, so the simpler the better! If the upgrade process is a simple as entering a new license key code, and changing the historical database parameters, then I can handle that. I've been poking around in the system, and I don't see an applet that will allow me to upgrade or install a new key code, so that got me wondering if the entire software suite would have to be reinstalled. Do you know where the applet is at to perform such an upgrade?

Yes, it is as simple as entering a license key. your Vendor can provide you one, you can choose to upgrade with e.g. 10 agents. Included in this ordering is the actual upgrade, they will do it for you.
Afterwards you have to change the historical statistics to the required value (preferrably maximum for the agent value)

Great! That's what I was wondering about. I'm familiar with the historical data parameter settings, so that's no problem. Thanks for your help!
