I have a user who has been using an e-mail address: Schmo@company.com. But now that e-mail address has become overrun with SPAM. He wants to switch to Joe.Schmo@company.com. However, he still wants to monitor Schmo@company.com for a while before making the switch. He also wants an automated message to go out to anyone sending to Schmo@company.com saying that his e-mail has changed and to please call our company to find out the new address (and his secretary will filter out the riff raff).

I tried creating a Rule that looks for messages that have "Schmo@company.com" and then send them to the "unwanted" folder. However, when you add "Schmo@company.com" to an R5 rule, it cuts off the "@company.com" when you add it--so ALL incoming messages which CONTAIN Schmo were going to the unwanted folder. So whether someone sent to "Joe.Schmo@company.com" or "Schmo@company.com"--they were all going to the unwanted folder.

I gave up on creating a successful Rule and now I am trying to tackle this using AGENTS. I have an Agent which successfully watches for any message coming into the unwanted folder and automatically reply to the sender saying that this guy's e-mail address has changed and to contact our company for the new address.

However, I cannot create an agent that will take all incoming messages to "Schmo@company.com" and automatically send them to the unwanted folder, while leaving "Joe.Schmo@company.com" alone. Does anyone know exactly how I can accomplish this using Agents?

Questions: Only one mail file in this situation, right? The user has multiple entries in his NAB person record: schmo@company.com AND joe.schmo@company.com, right?

If the above assumptions are true:
Can you put a LS agent in the After New Mail Arrives event to check the SendTo field?

You may already be down this road.....

peace.
