Agent profiles vs Groups

The Angent profile setting includes Groups, it means that all the Agent included into a specific profile belong to all those groups, is there a way to apply the same profile to agents belonging to different groups, in other words is it possible to separate profiles from group membership?

I haven't figured out a way, I'm using one profile per group membership combination.
