We are reorganising our working data, moving it to a new server, leaving our Exchange box just to handle mail.

If I only want to backup my Exchange 2000 mailstore on the existing server, can I remove the remote agent to use on the new server, leaving only the Exchange Agent on the mail server.

I'm using version 8.6

Regards

NO! Beacause the remote agent does the connection and the data transfer. It is needed on every system you need to backup! For an Exchange backup with BE 8.6 you need the "Veritas Exchange Agent" and a "Veritas Remote Agent".

Only if you have the exchange server on the same system than the mediaserver are you allowed to use this remote agent on a different system...

I hope this helps...

Thanks TDM..

I thought this was the case, but the documentation is pretty unclear on this.

Looks like time to dig in the pockets again....

Thanks again.
