Hi,

The Aged Payables Report in A/P Transaction Reports takes around 2 hours to run... Any idea what would be causing it. The vendor table is probably around 2000 rows.. and as far as I understand SQL Server should be able to handle 2000 rows in a better timing than this??

Accpac version is 5.0A
Windows OS is Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Service Pack 1

Thanks for the help in advance..

One thing to keep in mind is that some Accpac reports don't ask the database for result sets. Some reports, like the aging reports, read the records one at a time which is hard on MSSQL compared to P.SQL.

The AP aging reads the AP records and creates a temp file in the TEMP folder, and then runs a report against the temp file.
If your workstation is slow then this process can take a long time, it may also help to clear your TEMP folder and defrag your drive.

Thank you all for your replies..

Our version of ACCPAC is 5.0A with no service packs installed.

I monitored ACCPAC while it was running and it created a temp file in C:\Doucment and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temp folder.

The report runs equally slow in faster processor machine as well which forces me to say that it may not be a computer process power issue..

Thanks

No service packs!!??!!. Heck, you're lucky it runs at all! Back in that version, MSSQL access was still a bit flaky. You should be at:

SM SP5
GL SP3
AR SP3
AP SP3
