I am exp. some issues after applying SP4 one is that we will sometimes get a client busy and the backup will fail when nothing else to do with CA is running on that box, we have also noticed that we are having problems with restores because of the same error or we are getting a time out error on these clients.

Our backup server for these jobs are on a WIN2K box AS 2000 with SP4.

Not familiar with your issue, but I did find that after installing SP4 for Arcserve 2000 on Windows 2000 w/SP2 I could no longer do a restore using a file filter. Any regular restore job would work fine, but as soon as I added a file filter to my restore job it would crash immediately upon start....

I spent 4+ hours working on this with Arcserve and the only thing we could do was uninstall Arcserve and re-install with only SP3. They had no good answer for me.

It is possible that it have nothing to do with but I meeted problems on 3 SP4 installation on the agents.
The SP4 for ArcServe reset to default value the IRPStackSize...
It can be "not enough network resources to run the backup".

If it can help you...
