I have 2 internal servers in the same routing group. Server 1 is configured as the Master in the group. Everything was great until we attempted to configure Server 1 to forward all outbound mail to our 3rd Party SPAM filter. On Server 1 we configured the only SMTP Virtual Server to utilize our 3rd party to be the smarthost for outbound email.

Now no email is deleivered to anyone located on Server 2. They can send mail out to both internal and external users, but nothing comes in from anyone (internal or external).

We use Postini (external 3rd Party). No SPAM filter internal.

Make sure that server2 is set to allow email from your smarthost.

Get ahold of Postini and tell them your situation. Hopefully their customer service can point you in the right direction. I use AppRiver and they have to add my servers to the MX and A records .

I just got off the phone with them and they had me remove the smarthost from the SMTP Virtual Server and use the SMTP connector instead (even though their documentation says they don't recommend it). But it did seem to fix the problem.
