After setting up required menu category to require a drink on every order we are having issues.

After setting up required menu category to require a drink on every order. We are having a problems with split checks.

When you have a split check it requires the last split closed  to have an equal amount of drinks to the split.  For example if you split the check 5 times the last check cashed out needs to have 5 drinks added to it. I've looked at all the settings and I can't figure out a way to fix this. I'm hoping that someone on this forum has a solution to this problem.
 
A solution is difficult without knowing what kind of POS and software version you have...
 
Sorry I though I posted that. Total fail! I'm running Aloha Table service version 6.7.38
 
Had a similar problem with Micros (we use both at several locations)... Don't know if there's a better way but our servers and managers have basically learned to just add a water prior to splitting and then split a water with the rest of the items. Again, don't know if that's the best option or not, but it works for us!
 
I don't know about Aloha, but with Micros you probably have drink management enabled. Try changing the cover count on the check to reflect the number of drinks or less.
