I just started a new job reciently, when loging in to the domain the domain is showing up as the old NT domain name is not NEW domain name for example...

the old domain was DOMAIN
the new domain is DOMAIN.com

this is showing up in the login dialog box when loging on.
how do I change it to show the new domain?
DOMAIN.com

thanks,
MEAB

It's ok that it looks like this. You can join the domain "domain.com" and when you log in, you'll see the NT4 style name instead of "domain.com".

A great way to double check is to log in normally. Then right click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Then choose properties from the menu that comes up. Then click on the tab that says "Computer Name". You *should* see a field that says "Domain:" and to the right of that should be the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) of your domain.

If you still see the NT4 domain name here, then verify your DNS entry for your LAN Network card is set to the AD Domain Controller. Also look for any hardcoded entries in your LMHOSTS and HOSTS files and doublecheck WINS entries on your LAN NIC. Hope this helps.
