after the outgoing message, the autoattendant says "enter the extension, press # for directory, 0 for operator, * to leave a message." well, * to leave a message basically works like "transfer to voicemail," you still have to know the person's extension. to reach the Gen delivery box, callers should REALLY do nothing, or press 0. i've re-recorded the outgoing message to say "to leave a message, stay on the line for the general delivery mailbox," but even after i set AA Menu Prompt to no, after my recorded message, the system still goes through it's shpiel. Honestly, i'd like to turn the AA system message off completely and have my recorded message give navigation instrucions. i thought AA Menu Prompt did this, but I guess not. is there any way to turn the system message off?

It is to my understanding that if you turn AA off you need to record something in its place. my sugjestion is to split your greeting into parts. Example "greeting number 1" thank you for calling company abc. Turn off AA and record the rest of your greeting "our hours are 8 to 5 monday through friday etc....... So now when AA picks up the caller gets "thank you for calling company abc our 8 to 5 monday through friday etc....... I hope this helps.

i have something recorded. the manager saying "thanks for calling XXX our hours are XXX to XXX our address is XXX our fax number is XXX. if you know the person's extension, enter it now. to search the directory, hit pound. to leave a message, stay on the line for our general delivery mailbox." then i want it to just go to the general delivery box. but it doesn't. even though AA Menu Prompt is set to No, the system still comes on AFTER this recorded message and says "using the dialpad, enter the number of the person you are trying to reach. to search the directory, hit pound. to reach the operator, hit 0. to leave a message, press * ". this is misleading, because pressing star is like a F986, transfer to voicemail. you still have to know the extension (or mailbox) you want to reach. I'd like this system message not to play. are you saying that if i turn off AA Menu Prompt, I am REQUIRED to record something in it's place; i can't just use Greeting 1 alone, with no menu prompt?
