I have AF 5.5 and the mpeg4 plugin, and a bunch of others. When i import the avi file that was compressed with divx i can drag and drop it to the timeline. audio is there and the video is there. the audio does not have any sound and i am having the problem with the video. i can play it about an eighth of the way then an zero denominator error occurs. when i close it i get a can not cach-out error and a few other. I have a p4 2.66GHZ with like a gig of ram. will AF not handle the divx file. if so, what can i convert it to before importing to AF.
Another thing once i am done with the file what is the best way to reimport it back to premiere. My objective is to import a clip to AF and change it to widescreen then place it back into premiere and add the sound.

As far as I know AE cannot support certain Divx /drip Xvid files. Ive been trying to take clips from horror movies Ive had and montage them together... with the same results.

One way is to capture them from DVD with certain software and export them to a straight AVI file...

I was wondering Fox6designer. would it work if I were to export an AVI file uncompressed from Adobe premiere, then iimport it into after effects??

Sure. Straight AVI works. Assuming file size for uncompressed video isnt an issue, go for it.
