I am in the process of creating a slideshow, mostly comprised of photos, and music accompaniment, and was wondering if After Effects is a suitable program to do this with. I mainly want some interesting transitions between photos, and some nice mainpulation of the pics, other than just the usual wipes and "Powerpoint" type transitions. If AE is not the right program, does anyone know what would work? Im going for simple yet, eye catching. thanks in advance!

Premiere is better suited for this IMO. Plenty of effects, real-time playback of your music while editing and pretty easy to use compared to AE which is more suited for high-end motion graphics.
