After Effects 6.5 Palettes Don't Show Up

No matter what I do, I can't get the AE palettes to show. I tried tab, shift+tab, and looking through every preference I could find. I have two computers and the same thing is happening on both of them. Is this something common? If so what's the solution?

Use the file pulldown, WINDOWS and nothing happens?

Select, One Comp View. Any change?

Throw out your preferences and try again.
