Hello -

GW 6.0.1

Situation: I have a few inter-office distribution lists. It seems each time I remove a user from a list, the list no longer works. Staff can still send email to the list, but members of the list never receive the email.

I've tried this with both ConsoleOne and NWAdmin, and appears to be happening no matter which tool I use to remove a user.

Each of my GWChecks have been run & re-run w/no errors, and yet it still happens each time I remove a user. This is true for each of my GWDLs. I've attempted to remove the user only, while keeping their GW account active. Also, deleting the user all together. Same results. Adding a new user to a distribution list works just fine, and causes no errors/problems. The problem only happens when I remove someone.

My current resolution is to simply rebuild the distribution lists. Which then works just fine.

Suggestions/Thoughts as to why this may be happening?

Thank You.

Using GW 5.5 I could only speculate as to what the problem might be in 6.x. What does the status show on the properties of the sent e-mail using the DL's (delivered, pending...)? Have you tried to do a manual synchroniztion after you make a change to the DL's? FarOut

The status shows delivered.

I didn't try the sync. I'll give it a whirl and let you know. It has now also affected my "everyone" distribution list - so this will be a good troubleshooting step.

Thanks again.

If you are using GroupWise 6, you should NOT use NWAdmin as this WILL cause problems with the GW databases according to the docs and the TIDS.

I had the same problem under 5.5 which turned out to be version differences in the snap-ins.

Michigan - I'm still curious as to what the Sent status is on an e-mail using the DL's. The status info can tell you quite a bit of information. I am getting ready to upgrade to ver 6.x and I am kind of a fanatic on keeping problem logs. I would hate to count the # of hours that they have saved me. Like I said I am just curious about the Sent Status.
Thanks Chief!

I tried the sync thing. It sync'd fine, yet the distribution lists still did not work.

FarOut - The status shows "DELIVERED" on each of the emails sent to those DLs.

rjs - great point. I've heard/read that many items will cross-reference the snapins and fail. Maybe this is a good example. With that said, do you think it may have something to do with the fact that the ditribution lists were originally created with NWAdmin, but when I attempted to edit them in ConsoleOne "something" didn't like it - and that's where/why the issue occured?

I didn't realize it until further troubleshooting today, but it affected my "Everyone" group too. I re-built the DLs, and (again) everything is now working correctly.

Darn it . . . now that I'm thinking about it, I may have just screwed myself for future edits (w/ConsoleOne). I re-created those groups w/NWAdmin. Argghhh!

Thanks for the feedback.

Do you have any DS errors? I had the same kind of problem....You might run a DSREPAIR to see what happens....After I fixed my errors and did a top down rebuild of Groupwise and my distribution lists magically started working....a long shot but it worked for me....good luck Tamra Graver --CNA

Ran the DSRepair - had a couple "outdated records" but nothing to interesting. Re-ran it. No errors. I rebuilt each of my DL, so I really can't check/troubleshoot these issues any longer - everything appears to be working fine.

Thanks for the response.
