I am kinda stuck on this one 0_o

It was a backup file/print share server. We decided to promote it to a DC (only one DC existed on the network and no resources for separate box).

Obviously server was fine, pingable and working. After execution of dcpromo the server complaint that it has terminal services installed and they wont be accessible after the process (I clicked ok).

Never less the process completed successfully and server restarted. It took about 10-15 minutes to boot the server it was stuck in "Initializing Network..." screen.

When it finally booted up, it was not pingable from any host. And also you were not able to ping anything from the server itself. IP configuration remained the same as before. We tried to enable DHCP, no address was received.

This problem is driving me nuts, any suggestion or ideas??

Thanks.

Windows firewall in on
Security Configuration Wizard policy was applied previously
IP config is bad

I'd look at those right after looking at the event logs.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Issue fixed, don't know why, but after disabling second NIC everything worked.

Ah - yes, I've seen that before too. Second NIC gets an APIPA and the server gets into a loop. Glad to hear you fixed the issue.
