After completing windows updates I no longer telnet into windows 2003

I can no longer telnet into the LDAP on a Windows 2003 server (build 3790) via a Linux server. This was working prior to the Windows update now I get "connection refused" error. There is no port blockage, or Windows firewall tuned on. Puzzled on this one? Does anybody know of any windows updates affecting telnet port 143?
