Hello,

I'm running an XP machine and recently installed an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card. Now that it is installed I can no longer right click on the desktop for any purpose (make a folder, pull up the display options, etc) but rather have to either go through c: to make a new folder or Control Panel to change display options. I had this same problem with another card I installed it was a Jaton (I forget the exact product).

It's all rather disconcerting as I reflexively right click on desktop to do any manner of things. I CAN right click on desktop icons and use the associated tasks however.

Has anyone any knowledge of this type of problem?

Thanks in advance.

The best way that I have seen for resolving unusual problems such as this is to:

1. Reconfigure for "Standard VGA" driver.
2. Uninstall ATI drivers.
3. Reboot and reinstall ATI drivers.

Desktop? You mean you get a Desktop?:)) I've been trying to get a desktop for quite awhile now. I have the Radeon 9000 pro and cannot get it installed on a W2000 server. I just get a blue screen and mouse (that works). After installing the drivers etc. my desktop remains. After rebooting, it's gone. It's fine until you get to the point where the logon screen is supposed to appear.

Well I've tried several things since this post. I reinstalled the driver (response 1). I've updated the chipset. Uninstalled then updated Intellipoint. Tried not using intellipoint, I've updated the inf files. I've contacted ATI and Connect 3d but nothing from them yet. I've disabled the USB port that shares the same IRQ with the card.

No luck so far. But at least I get a desktop. 8) Good luck with that one.
