After a compact/repair lose connection to Access 2000 DB

After a compact/repair has been preformed on Access 2000 database residing on a XP machine, all clients lose connection. We get displayed ""The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time." We know that no one else has the database open. It looks like all the security settigns on the .mdb gets taken out after the compact/repair.

Does anyone know of issues with Access 2000 and XP?
