I have AES up and running and we're fully integrated with our Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 environment. I'm able to click-to-dial from Microsoft Communicator.

My only nagging issue is that some of the nubmers in our Global Address Book are in a format like (123) 456-7890 x999. These are mostly numbers for employees at satellite offices with standalone PBX's.

When I try to click-to-dial any of these people, Communicator processes the number as 999[/].

What format do I need to change these numbers to?

I don't see how this can be changed to automate the dialing, and still be "human readable".

You MIGHT try doing the same kinds of entries in the global address book that you would do in a system speed dial (such as ~w before the extension). That may possibly make it dial automatically, but it would look weird to people seeing it in the global phone book.

What I'd do would be put a separate entry in the global address book for your extensions. (So it would be it's own number entry like fax or cell phone.) It still wouldn't automate the dialing, but click-to-dial would be a bit more functional.

Carpe dialem! (Seize the line!)
