AE6 has NO effects (?)

When I startup After Effects v6.0 my effects window is empty. It will at random startup correctly, but 99% of the time there are no effects. I have standard effects and plug-ins in my mac's folder for AE, but I think they may be in the wrong place.
I sincerely need help because without the effects I cannot use this program.

The plugin folder should be in the Adobe folder with AFter Effects 6.0.

Do you have a screenshot of the folder?

I do not have a screenshot. The "Adobe" folder has the effects put into the "plug-ins" folder, seperated into two subfolders: "production bundle" and "standard."
This is truly an infuriating problem. I greatly appreciate any help.
