I don't know if this id the right forim for thid or not.
I have a few clients who pc's are running slow and just messed up generally. I noticed that they have "GAIN", and "GATOR" spyware installed on them.
Is there a FREE adware removal tool out there for this junk. My clients are mostlt seniors and are on a tight budget.
Thanks,
Dave

Howdy:

Ad-Aware or Spybot will get rid of both.. Also, if they are running ME or XP, have them disable System Restore before running either..

Murray speaks the truth. Go with his recommendations (though I'd nudge you towards SpyBot)

It can be found here:

I am partial to its "Immunize" feature, which lets you head off a multitude of possible hijacks and infections.

Just to add my two cents worth, whichever you use (I've used both and like both) make sure that you run it often and update it often. I run Spybot daily and check for updates everytime I run it.

I run both Spybot and AdAware. one misses what the other gets. Especialy since my wife is not that savy with her browsing. I do like the fact that spybot removed pre-installed windows spyware exploits, but, for professional use when troubleshooting another persons PC over the phone I find it easier for the end user to use adaware over spybot. For the senior that is very PC illiterate adaware is easier to use.
