Hi,
I am frustrated for almost two weeks since my boss threathen if I toke over the project that I need to convert the Access 2003 with SQL Server backend Database to a web based database (Intranet) I will get a pink slip. The timeline is so tight that I needed to work days and nights. I need some experts to help me setting up the Window Server 2003 issues.
I was told before I can start saving all the ASP pages (We decided to use ASP.Net w/VB script) into the Web Site folder (in IIS Manager?), I need to set up a Web Server. We decided to use a testing server that is currently running Window Server 2003 & SQL Server 2000 and turn it to a Web Server. So, I think (hopefully) I did that part correctly. Now, I am frustrating did I set it up right or not, then I need to worry about the security issue because the database contain company stuff and users login.
My questions:
1) I think I set it up right, but how do I confirm it and where I can save all the ASP pages and run the Web site?
2) Will a Novell User (Novell is our main network) having problems to connect the database? When I check the Authentication Methods in the Web Sites, I only see the Enable Anonymous Access for one person which is me only and nobody has an account in the Window Server 2003 in my office. Do I need to set up an account for every user? If not, what will be the problems later on?
3)I am concerning the security of the web based database, what can I do to prevent the problem? Do I need to set up the Server Certificate in the Secure Communications under Default Web Site Properties?
4)We will having a VPN set up for our users later this year, so will it be a problem to connect the web based database?
Thank you for all the Window Server 2003 experts.
