Hello,

I have a potential client that needs assistance in these areas listed below. Do I have to have special training or can anyone do this by just reading manuals.

Thank you.

1. Confirm cabling

2. label equipment and peripherals.

3. Test the laser printer by printing documents and reports from the POS Co
ntroller and Windows PC.

4. Verify and test the POS Controller.

5. Verify and test the PDT handhelds.

6. Verify and test the Windows PC.

6. Request a test poll for the POS Controller and Windows PC.

7. Unpack and install and test the fax machine.

8. Verify and test the Avery Dennison Ticket Printer (if Factory store only).

9. Verify and test all registers. Including credit sales dial out functionality and troubleshoot with customer if necessary.

My personal opinion....

you could eventualy learn to do all of those things from
reading manuals and a lot of trial and error. If your potential client is paying for and expecting a professional in these areas I would say that you fall far short if you need to ask these questions, and it would be un-fair for you to preform these services as a professional paid "expert". If it is a friend that is asking you to help him stumble through all of this that is a different story.

Hello Azrobert,

Thank for your honest opinion and advice. I appreciate it.

A little more info?

Are you setting up a system that is being dropped shipped? Is this stuff suppose to be plug n play? Or, are you trying to develop your own pos system from scratch to perform these functions?
