Does anyone have any advice on what software would be best so that I can see what people are accessing on the web. I need to monitor such issues as who is currently downloading, who is using the web the most, what sites they are on my current network traffic etc.
I have looked at surf control and Winroute so far, which both seem pretty good and very similar, Any other recommendations?

Thanks

There are several such programs. But be certain you take the first step of notifying in a written Memo to all Staff that monitoring is going to occur.

Add to this a written acceptable use policy, and ask each Staff member to sign their agreement. Re-do this process annually.

acceptable use policies are a must

the second policy you need to implement is document management, including email.

i have seen a program called websense mentioned with positive recommendations so you may want to check it out; google it to find the source.

p.s. bcastner your advice is as always right on the money - plunked you a star

Thanks, have already gone through this process. All the necessary notifications have taken place. It is all tied in with our ICT policy on use of equipment.

Thanks for the pointer though. Very imp issue!

any further on those other programs?
