Hello, I am presently building a db for a restaurant and it's coming along well. MajP has given me some valuable advice and I am very thankful. I have a couple questions: 1.) I want to make the db do everything from entering an order to taking cash/credit to settle a ticket. Is there some software out there that will integrate with Access 2007 that I can use to collect a payment either in cash or credit? And pop open a cash drawer?
2.) I also want the db to be able to print out a ticket in the kitchen, is there some software and/or drivers to handle this?
I appreciate any and all suggestions...Thank you!

Access can do almost all of what you want, because it is an integrated database, form creator and report writer.

Interfacing with the standard EPOS systems can (I believe) be achieved by purchasing a standard module of software and hardware. It's unlikely that you would be permitted direct access to the EPOS system for the obvious security reasons.

Since tills are all electronic these days, the manufacturers of the ones in use at your restaurant should be able to supply the interface details required. For all I know, they may be able to use a standard ethernet connection.

In short, the routine printing, adding and recording can be down to Access. The EPOS and associated bits will likely be beyond your control, and you will be obliged to interface your software with them.
