Just after a reccomendation on which processor to buy to replace my aging 1800XP

My system is:

Abit NF7 board
generic 1024 PC2700 RAM
Radeon 9800
and the Athlon 1800

I really want to know wether its worth getting a Athlon64?

Thanks micker looks like a may be in for a new board if I wanna go 64.

Abit NF7 (which revision?)
All are Socket A, so that means Athlon/Duron/Athlon XP & Sempron NOT ATHLON64, which is Socket 754 or 939.

Early revision 1.0 oficially supports 333front side bus so the fastest XP supported would be the "Barton Core"
XP 3.0+ (333fsb version) the commonly available variety

If revision 2.0? then 400fsb is supported, which gives you official support for the "Barton Core" XP3.2 (400fsb) CPU

Trouble is ideally you would need PC3200 (DDR400) memory to go for the full XP3.2+ CPU (no probs with the XP3.0+ 333fsb CPU)

This should give you a reasonable performance booste at a nominal cost.
