I have grouped by three different fields. Crystal will automatically put them in three seperate group header lines. To save space, I right mouse clicked, format section, then clicked underlay following sections. This way my report goes from this:

group1
group2
group3

To looking like this:

group1 group2 group3

Is this a good idea? I wanted these groups to be on one line and not so spaced out. Any input most welcome.
Thanks!

This should work OK and should not present any problems.

This would not work if there are multiple groups within group level 2 or level 1 (since the info from group headers 1 & 2 will not repeat.

Instead, simply suppress group headers 1 and 2 and place all three group columns in group header 3.

I agree with idoMillet...simply suppress GH 1&2 and use the Groupnames 1 and 2 (or their associated fields in Group 3

You will get absolutely NO unexpected behavoiur based on Printer type if this is ditributed and used by many user printers....using the Underlay you may have trouble lining up your fields for different printers....also you may have a problem perhaps if the Groups 1&2 repeat on the same page.

there is no problem doing it the way idoMillet suggests

There would also be a problem if you tried to Export the Underlay sections to Excel as Excel doesn't have an Underlay feature.

The Group Header fields in the Group Header 3 section makes the most sense to me. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear
