I'm preping to take 70-229. Can anyone give me any advise before I dig up the cash for the exam? Ideas as to what kind of stuff will be on the test, etc.

Thanks.

As i remember it, there were some questions that asked you to put lines of sql in the right order. Others on basic db design such as what to do to improve the design of queries or tables. Some on indexes, some on triggers, some on execution plans, some on stored procedures, some on cursors.

So it just covers the basics or programming? Is there anything real complex that it covers? I've got the book, just haven't sat down with it yet.

yes pretty much. I had free online access to the M$ book but also studied generic db design at university. I think if you understand db design and sql you could probably pass this one without reading the book. Although there are some SQL server specific questions alot are just about db design in general.

ok, cool thanks.

(Didn't mean to not respond for a week. Had surgery last week, didn't want to move, much less type.)

Thanks again.

I just got done flipping through the MCSE Readiness Review for 70-229. Most of the questions were easier than I thought. The whole thing only took me about 3 total hours to get through. I can't imaging the test is that easy. I sure hope it is though.

In my experience MS readiness reviews are nothing like the real tests!
