Howdy,

I was approached recently by someone asking how much would it cost to put ads on my site and I have no idea what to charge.
If we say I would put 1-2 lines of a text link above the fold, no banners and the site gets 10k unique visitors per month. Does anyone know any guidelines I might use to formulate some sort of advertising costs? Any ideas?

shot in the wind as I haven't considered this prior but if I had to quote someone I would take into account of the amount of visitors. Not sure if I would go with unique though. No matter whot he user is they see the add and it may not be till the third or fourth time they notice and click that adv.

so in account of the visitors possibly consider a rate per thousand or even hundred hits.

I managed to find some tables from companies out there. I'll leave out the URL's so there's no complications with them
Advertising rates are based on the CPM (cost per thousand) of impressions. [*As of October 1,  2001]

Monthly Impressions Full Banner Half Banner Quarter Banner Button
Minimum of 5,000 US$ 15 CPM N/A N/A N/A
10,000 US$ 12 CPM US$ 8.25 CPM US$ 6.75 CPM US$ 6 CPM
15,000-20,000-25,000 US$ 9 CPM US$ 6 CPM US$ 5.25 CPM US$ 4.5 CPM
30,000-35,000-40,000 US$ 7.50 CPM US$ 5.25 CPM US$ 4.5 CPM US$ 3.75 CPM

Thanks Onpnt, that's a big help!!
I'll probably go with text links instead of banners but I can use the above to formulate some monthly charge.
Thanks for your help!!
