Advantages of Sharepoint over Competition

Hi,

I am reletively new to Sharepoint and would like to know what competing Software is availible on the market today. I would also like to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of Sharepoint in relation to these competitors (from a sales perspective... ex: cost, flexibility, scalability). If anyone knows of any articles covering these items I would appreciate a reference to them.

Hello,

Microsoft has two SharePoint products on the market.
Windows SharePoint Services (comes with Win 2003 and can be installed without additional license costs) and SharePoint Portal Server which is a separate licensed product.

Are you looking in to SharePoint Services or SharePoint Portal?

I am interested almost entirely in Windows Sharepoint services and NOT the portal server. I am going to be selling sharepoint. (setup, custom web parts, custom look and feel to give you an idea) I want to know what the other options availible are.... and why sharepoint is better (or worse).
