I'm trying to build a Database System for a non profit organization that uses Filemaker on Macintosh computers. Could anyone please tell me some advantages that Access has over Filemaker?
Access is an application that is more widely used and accepted and will probably be easier to get support for.
It can (probably) handle more records.
VBA.
However, filemaker is somewhat easier for a novice programmer/dba to work with. i'm not saying you are a novice by any means, but many non profit orgs don't have the resources to spend on a big IT Dept. if you move on, or this project has to be transitioned over to someone else, it may be easier to make the transfer.
If you don't have a ton of records you might look at staying with filemaker.
there is a forum in Tek-Tips for filemaker, but i don't think as many people frequent it.
I am new to building databases and I am doing a project for a non profit call center that use MACs and I know nothing about MACs. I appreciate your help cghoga, maybe someday I can return the favor.
