Advantage of Storing Report Locally??

Could anyone tell me the advantage of storing Cognos Report file locally in the hard disk than storing it in the report server?

Although we are new to Cognos 8 Report Studio, we would like to know the Pros and Cons of it.

Any suggestions. Thanks in Advance.

the report must be stored in the content store for you to run it..

the save local option for the report spec is a convenience if you want to take it from one environment to another as i understand it.
