If it is installed then you would need to get the Advanced Security Palette. Go to Setup>Company>Palettes..select System Setup, then add and then hit the magnifying glass and then find Advanced Securtiy.
Tried that, but advanced security does not have anything listed when choosing each series (ie tried financial all the way down to 3rd party and dex) when adding palettes (nor is it available when adding things to the shortcut bar). It is in the set file and is located in Tools > Customize > customization status as enabled.
Have you tried installing it again from the 7.5 disc. Try this and when you launch Great Plains you should be asked to include new code. Say yes and it will load the Advanced Security.
Yes. We can see the product listed under Tools > Customize > Customization Status and we see the product listed when we go to add it to a palette (but none of the tables are listed)
Have you looked at the Great Plains security to see if you can see any options. Go to the security setup and select Advanced Security as product and Windows as type and system as series. there should be options there. Mark them all.
luvsql's actually helping me out, I thought I'd jump in with some thoughts of my own.
----
the overriding factor here is that the advanced security pallette item(s) do(es) not show nor is/are available to be inserted in anything including the shortcut bar.
It appears that in 7.5 the ability to add any "system" related windows to the shortcut bar is limited to inserting only by hitting the add current window button.
If someone can do this for me, please add all the windows and pallettes (if there are any) to their shortcut bar and browse their sql data for their short cut table SY01900 I believe and filter the data for Dictionary ID 3104.
If someone could paste this data into a reply I can reintroduce these windows into my shortcut bar manually via sql and at least get access to the advanced security screen via the shortcut bar.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I certainly hope this isn't a registration key issue, that'd be a pain....
As the developer of Advanced Security and it's earlier Omni Security version I hope I can help.
1) It should not be a registration issue as Advanced Security is registered with the System Manager. Field Level Security does require additional keys.
2) Because Advanced Security is in the System series it cannot be added to Shortcuts or palettes (unless using Omni Menu). However, if it is not adding itself to the palettes, then there is something else wrong... see below.
2) Have you logged on at least once as 'sa'? Advanced Security will not add its palette entries to the System Setup Palette until it is happy that all its tables are in place. It needs to log on at least once as 'sa' to create its tables.
3) Did you ever have Omni Tools installed? If so did you make sure you upgraded to Omni Tools v6.00b8 before upgrading to v7.x as mentioned in the documentation? The reason for this is that the WDC_Field_Security_MSTR table needs to be converted to a format compatible with v7.x before you install v7.x. If this is the case, v7.x will not be able to create its files successfully and will not add its palette entries.
Please let me know if you need manual instructions to convert the WDC_Field_Security_MSTR table?

solution. sql clear all advanced security tables and stored procedures and recreate. btw, this somehow also blew away all smartlists favorites. (don't ask me why, I know the tables are not related)
